Production Concept Unit: Episode Synopsises

I have also re-written the synopsis for each episode to take account of the new characters.

Episode List
One
In the pilot episode, the three characters have just had their last day at college, and are now thrust out into the crazy and full on world of trying to get gainful employment. Ultimately, after getting nowhere at the job centre, the three of them are sitting outside, and they get chatting about how hard it is for someone of their age to get a full time job, and after discussing a few options, they decide that the best solution is to simply forget everyone else and start their own company. The episode ends with the three of them trying to come up with a name for their business, and trying to find premises from which they can operate.
Two
In this episode we delve more into Mike’s so-called disability. The other two are suspicious as to whether it is real or not, as they put some tools on a high shelf in their newly found workshop, and the next day they are on a lower shelf. The only person who could have done this is Mike, as he is the only one that has been in there, but being in a wheelchair, it would theoretically be impossible for him to reach the high shelf. When questioned about it by Asad and Leona, Mike plays dumb and insists that they left the tools there the day before. Bemused, they decide they must have left them there after all, but decide to keep a much closer eye on Mike from now on.
Three
In this episode, the trio decide they need to give their company a name. They eventually decide on High Voltage Electrical Installation, as Mike is a fan of AC/DC. Now that they have a company name, they need to apply it to their newly purchased van. However, when they contact the signwriting company to arrange the pickup of the van, it turns out the company has made a cockup whilst putting it into their machine, and the van has ended up with Shite Voltage Electrical Installation on the side of it, much to the amusement of the staff at the signwriting company. This sets them back further in the pursuit of further contracts.
Four
Now that they have a van with shite written on the side of it, the three of them have to get it back to the sign writers ASAP so that they can get it changed to the proper name of the company, in order to get more contracts. Naturally, on the way to the sign writers, the van blows up after Asad puts it in first instead of third (He only passed his driving test a month ago, bless him).  Now with the van in the garage, the trio have no transport and no way of getting to any more prospective jobs.
Five
With no transport and no contracts, High Voltage Electrical Installations is not off to a good start. The trio are starting to realise just how difficult running their own business is. To take their mind off their business problems, Mike suggests going on a speed dating night. This starts badly when they arrive sopping wet after having to walk (and wheel) there in pouring rain due to having no van after Asad blew it up. This means they have to get dried up before starting, and therefore they don’t get to meet as many girls as they would like. However, despite this, they all manage to get a match and are over the moon when they head home. Asad and Mike are interested to learn that Leona has pulled a girl, as this seems to confirm their suspicions that she is indeed a lesbian.
Six
In the final episode of the series, all three characters now have girlfriends, after the speed dating night they went on in the previous episode. The business is now going from strength to strength, thanks to Mike’s girlfriend’s dad offering the trio a permanent contract, and the trio are doing their utmost to get their girlfriends to take an active role in the business. However, Mike’s girlfriend becomes rather affronted when Bert suggest to her that to get more punters in, she poses in a provocative manner in a photo shoot so that the photo can appear on their new van. She tells him where to go, and promptly dumps him. The episode ends with the three in the pub, The Old Plug, trying to comfort Mike and convince him there’s plenty more girls out there for him, especially as he can tell them he’s ‘wheelie good at it!”.

Production Concept Unit: New Characters

After changing my idea, I have written new character bio's for the three main characters

Character List
Asad Ahmed – the bright, switched on Muslim bloke
The main protagonist for the series. An 19 year old lad, brown hair, average height, clean shaven, fresh out of college, with a HNC in Electrical Installation. He is fairly bright when it comes to the theoretical side of his subject, but comes somewhat unstuck when it comes to the practical side of it. The series follows him as he tries in vain to get a business off the ground after leaving college, but after various disasters realises it is not as straightforward as he first thought. These disasters however, would not have happened without the aid of his two accomplices that he met whilst at college and subsequently befriended. His religion will become a source of conflict later in the series, as due to being a muslim he is against homosexuality, but it turns out that his friend and later colleague Leona is a lesbian, and he struggles to deal with this. Played by Aqib Khan
Mike – the one who thinks he’s disabled
Becomes friends with Asad as the series progresses. He is perhaps not the brightest person on the planet, but he will stick by his friends through thick and thin, even if he is not always entirely sure why. He is the same age as Asad, but differs somewhat in appearance. He is a tad on the fat side, has brown hair and brown eyes. He uses a wheelchair, and it was never entirely clear amongst his friends whether he genuinely did need it or whether he was just doing it as a benefit fiddle to get money. He was well known and liked amongst his classmates at school for his laid back approach, even if this did result in an experiment in a Science lesson blowing up in his face, quite literally… He has a soft spot for Leona. Played by Robert Sheehan
Leona – the closet lesbian
Leona started at the school that Tony and Mike attended later than them, as her parents moved to the area recently. She, like them, studied Electrical Installation at college, and has successfully passed it, though in dubious circumstances according to Tony and Mike, as they think she used the fact she is a girl to her advantage. She is bright and switched on, and very hard working. She is a lesbian, but at the start of the series, she chooses to keep this hidden from Asad and Mike, but later on they accidently find out when they see her getting up close and personal with another girl when they are out. Her sexuality causes friction with Asad due to him being a muslim. Played by Antonia Thomas

Production Concept: Idea Rethink

After the green light pitching session, it was clear that my idea needs more work. Since then, I have made some changes to the characters. I would like to have one female character now and two male characters, instead of three males. To add a further plot twist, the female character will be a lesbian and one of the male characters will be Asian, whilst the other will allegedly be disabled. By this, I mean that the other two think he is disabled, and he plays on this, getting them to do everything for him, and also blaming every mistake he makes on his so-called disability. In addition, the female character becomes the object of desire for the two male characters, who are both most surprised when they hear rumours that she may be a lesbian. They later find out that she IS in fact a lesbian, and she becomes a great source of riducle and mickey taking from the two male characters.

Regarding the channel that the show will be on, I originally decided on BBC Three. However, I now feel that this is not a suitable channel for it, as the humour is a bit too rude and a bit too blunt for this channel, so I have now decided on channel 4, as in the past this has aired shows such as The Inbetweeners and Misfits on it's E4 subsidiary. As the humour in my show is going to be the same as this, I feel this is the right channel for it. Regarding casting, I would like Robert Sheehan to play the disabled white character, but the other two characters I am still considering who I would like to play them.
